We all know that most of the India's problem are due to lack of education and awareness. To address this we've planned to conduct classes for illiterate adults and school children in evening time. Always there are some child labors in the Below Poverty Line(BPL) families. Also lack of awareness is in high degree in these families. The Night School is being used to educate child labors and to give awareness to the illiterate adults. Now some of these illiterate adults/children are able to write letters to us.

On May 1st 2002 when we were conducting our 2nd Eye camp in Mandhiripalayam (a village comes under vavipalayam panchayat) elementary school, we got a chance to talk to the local women. The discussion was about how they track their children's performance in school. We've asked "Are they able to interpret anything from the rank cards given in schools?". There was a pin drop silent. Then the truth came out . Many of them don't know to read and write. Also we've asked about how they identify buses. The answer was by means of "Red Color" or "Green color". We already know that many of them are illiterates. Hence we put the question of "whether they are interested in attending classes in Night time to become a literate. Interestingly many of them came forward to attend the classes. June'2002 we started our first Night School in Mandhiripalayam. Because of lack of street light and road facility in the villages, we've planned to conduct the Nightschool in the same place of where BPL ( Below Poverty Line) families live.

The school is functioning between 06:30 - 08:30 pm. There are --- number of people ranging from 15-45 attending the classes, daily. First 6 months, the school was used for teaching illiterates alone. Now the school is being used for regular school students also. The local church ( a small hall ) is being used as the classroom. There are many young women are interestingly attending the class.

We started the school in open ground. After 2 months we've built a small hut which can accommodate 40 people.

In this school we got overwhelming support. There are more many young working men (mostly coolie labors in agricultural farms) interestingly attending the classes.
